ABINGTON >> There are a lot of ways to win a basketball game. A fast start is a sure-fire one, and that’s exactly what the Abington Friends girls’ team did Thursday night. The Kangaroos jumped out to a 20-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back to win their own Coaches vs. Cancer Invitational 61-45 against Lower Moreland.
North Penn rallies to edge Pennridge on Cody’s late pin
TOWAMENCIN >> One of the things that makes sports the best reality show on the planet is the big swing. One moment your favorite team is down, the next they’re celebrating victory, and the opposing team doesn’t know what hit them.
Ryan Cody had a chance to provide that moment for the North Penn wrestling team Wednesday night.
10 perfect gifts for the DC Comics obsessed person in your life
DC may not be as popular as its comic book brother, but there are still some great gifts for the guy or gal in your life who prefers Superman to Captain America. Here are a few, in no particular order.
Westworld 1×10: The Bicameral Mind
Welp, a show that promised to blur the line between fantasy and reality did not disappoint. The length the show goes to prove its own self-awareness makes it such an entertaining and interesting watch. Westworld 1×10 drives this point home in a thought-provoking way that provides answers and makes a demonstrative statement.
North Penn pulls out all stops in effort to contain St. Joseph’s Prep
PHILADELPHIA >> St. Joseph’s Prep running back D’Andre Swift surpassed 4,000 total yards from scrimmage entering Saturday’s PIAA 6A semifinal. Making him the focal point is easy to say, but it’s much harder to execute.
The North Penn defense gave it all they had to do the latter.
Westworld 1×09: The Well-Tempered Clavier
Robert Ford can be described with many adjectives. Arrogant, egotistical, and domineering and three of them. The man is also a genius, and often straight to the point when he speaks. The park co-creator dropped another truth bomb early on in Westworld 1×09.
Westworld 1×08: Trace Decay
Control is a funny thing. When someone has all the power he or she feels unstoppable — invincible even. Control is also a perception. In the blink of an eye the invincible feeling is wiped away and the same person is left scrambling.
Movie Review: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them targets fans old and new
The Harry Potter movie franchise is the best one we’ve ever seen, in my opinion. Die-hard Star Wars fans will tell you to forget about three movies within their own franchise. The Hunger Games flamed out. James Bond’s adventures exceed Potter’s in length, but the film quality throughout the series gives a nod to The Boy Who Lived.
With great success comes great expectation, however. Questions asking if the quality can continue are justified as we jump back into a secret community of wizards and witches.
‘Westworld’ recap: Episode 1×07, “Trompe L’Oeil”
While most people take Spanish as an elective language in high school, I took French. Now I hear Spanish all over, while I’m stuck watching Pepé Le Pew cartoons to get my French fix.
Wood, Quakertown run rampant on Norristown in win
QUAKERTOWN >> After jumping out to a 13-0 lead in the first seven minutes of its game against Norristown Friday night, the Quakertown football team found itself in a 13-6 game at the half.
