Hollywood is a tricky town. While it’s the land of opportunity, it’s also extremely difficult to make an impression. One successful project is “luck”. Two successful projects are a “coincidence”. Three successful projects, however. Three successful movies in Tinsel Town and you’re creating a trend. Taylor Sheridan is creating a trend.

If you’ve seen the trailer for Atomic Blonde you may have certain expectations for the movie. Charlize Theron whooping some ass. The female James Bond. Action. A little dry comedy. Unique musical accompaniment. If you see Atomic Blonde the movie, you’ll get exactly what you may have expected from the trailer plus an excellent fight scene and some twists at the end.
PHILADELPHIA >> After an up-and-down, inconsistent first half, the Lansdale Catholic boys lacrosse team came flying out the second half gate, scoring three goals in the first four minutes of the third quarter.
TOWAMENCIN >> The seeding in any District 1 tournament can be a fickle beast. Not that the top seeds don’t earn their place, but every now and then a really quality team ends up in the middle of the bracket. The No. 4 and No. 5 seeds in the 6A class played a district-championship quality softball game Saturday morning.
FRANCONIA >> Souderton saw West Chester Rustin end the third quarter in a flurry, scoring goals with 36 seconds and three seconds left. It proved too much for Big Red to overcome in an 8-5 defeat in the District 1-AAA boys lacrosse first round Tuesday night.
TOWAMENCIN>> The re-enter rule is high school softball can be a unique one. Any player who has been in the game may come out and come back in, at any position. The rule becomes even more unique when it happens inside the center circle.
TOWAMENCIN >> The busy schedule of a high school baseball team can be taxing, particularly on the pitching staff. A team needs a boost every now and then. One guy who can carry the load and give his teammates some rest. Enter North Penn’s Matt Stevenson.
Comic book movies are the best thing going right now. They’re fun, they’re entertaining, and they rarely miss. It’s not very often that they’re critically acclaimed, however, on the same level as the Shawshanks and Godfathers of the world. The Dark Knight earned its place among that group, and rightfully so. Now you can add another to that list. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes you on a ride that is an Awesome Mix of emotion, visual effects, and musical accompaniment that results in what may be Marvel’s best movie yet.
TOWAMENCIN >> Pinch hitting is one of the more difficult things to do in baseball. That’s saying something when there’s a hall enshrining people who got a hit three out of every ten tries. Still, pinch hitters most likely get one chance to make an impact on an entire game.
Here’s a thought that’s not groundbreaking. There are a lot of really serious issues in the world right now. Not getting into it, but you know it. A lot of that can carry over to the movies, with documentaries and think pieces. Those are necessary as well, but it doesn’t take away from one very important fact about Hollywood. Sometimes you just want to have some fun at the movies.
