Not that the top seeds don’t earn their place, but every now and then a really quality team ends up in the middle of the bracket. The No. 4 and No. 5 seeds in the 6A class played a district-championship quality softball game Saturday morning.
FRANCONIA >> Souderton saw West Chester Rustin end the third quarter in a flurry, scoring goals with 36 seconds and three seconds left. It proved too much for Big Red to overcome in an 8-5 defeat in the District 1-AAA boys lacrosse first round Tuesday night.

With her team up just six points and time winding down in the third quarter, Plymouth Whitemarsh’s junior point guard picked up an and-1 to put her team up nine. Then, she stole the ball from Council Rock North and canned a 35-footer as time expired.
CHELTENHAM >> After a slow first half, Faith Christian came out on fire in the third quarter and flew past Sankofa Freedom 55-27 in its PIAA Class A second round game Thursday night.
PHILADELPHIA>> Faith Christian flew out to a 25-8 first quarter lead and never looked back, cruising over top-seeded Sankofa Freedom 49-35 Tuesday evening.
