Mastery in Transformational Training – My Experience

As a Philly guy born and bred, moving 3,000 miles out west to Los Angeles for three months can be considered a big step. I’ve been getting a lot of questions from friends and family back home. They’ve varied in nature and tone, but I can pretty much sum them all up into one:

“So what the hell are you doing out there?”

The short answer is I’m in the third phase of an emotional intelligence and leadership training called Mastery in Transformational Training (MITT). The answer you’re looking for, which includes my experience and what I’ve gotten out of it, is much more.

What Am I Getting Out of Mastery In Transformational Training?

Let’s talk about me!

OK maybe that’s not the reason you’re here. (Though you came to StevenRichards.net, so I’m not sure what else you were expecting) But I do want to tell you how impactful these trainings have been for me and what I’ve discovered through MITT. So here goes.

Personal Discovery

First and foremost, let’s talk about what I’ve found out about myself since the middle of December when I took the Basic.

If you asked a lot of my friends and family members, you’d probably hear that I’m the guy who smiles and laughs a lot. But that was hiding something – I was not happy with my life at all. I would sit in the corner, waiting to feed off other peoples’ energy and relying on other people for happiness.

Today that is not even close to the case. I am now the reason people are having a good time, starting conversations and creating connections I never thought were possible before. I realized the perception of myself is the complete opposite of what other people are seeing in me – and once I realized that I experienced a freedom I never had before. The confidence and joy I now live with every day truly cannot be understated.

Professional Discovery

This seems like the “braggy” part of the show, so I’ll keep this short and sweet.

What I will tell you is I’ve brought the confidence and joy I live with every day into my work and it has paid off 1o fold. I have gone from an editorial producer and ad sales manager to the COO of an Internet company. I am involved with two new business ventures I have no doubt will take off in the future. I’ve also doubled my monthly income since February, so there’s results attached to my work as well.

Friendship/Relationship/Community Discovery

One of the things I learned through MITT is putting myself first – I am the most important person in my life and I create my surroundings. But man am I grateful for the love and appreciation I’ve discovered for the people in my surroundings.

First I want to tell you about my family.

My mom is better than yours, and I don’t care what you have to say about it. Her combination of power, support and love is an inspiration not just to me but to all mothers and women. Somehow I hadn’t realized that before, and now our relationship is at a higher level than it ever has been.

I also got to truly mourn the death of my father for the first time. He died 6 1/2 years ago. He was and is my inspiration for everything in life, and getting to experience that moment is freeing. I can now carry on his amazing legacy, and know I’m the every bit the man he raised me to be.

I also consider my friends an extension of my family. I went back home about a week ago, and I saw everyone I ran into in this amazing new light after experiencing these trainings. I got to see them as the powerful, joyful, confident, inspirational people every single one of them are. You guys inspire me every day to move forward in my life, and I mean that.
These are some of the people you'll meet through Mastery in Transformational Training. Who wouldn't want to hang out with them!?
Finally, there’s something to be said about the community I’ve built out here through MITT, and it’s not something small. I’ve met established actors, successful actresses, judges, business owners and IT technicians. I’ve met people from LA, San Diego, DC, Montana and Armenia.

And none of that matters.

What does matter is I’ve met hundreds of people who care about me and what I’m all about, just like the family and friends I have back in Philly. I’ve grown my community exponentially since December. These people have held me high for 5 straight months now, and I will never forget ANY of them. You can see some of them to right – yes they do bring that energy every day!

You’ve Experienced My Experience

So there it is, my honest and true opinion about Mastery in Transformational Training. Don’t believe it’s actually this good? That’s fine, but I suggest you check out Yelp, because there’s a lot of people saying the same thing.

There’s a lot that wasn’t said as well, so if you have any questions at all please feel free to leave a comment below or contact me. I’m also not gonna put my phone number on a blog post, but you’re welcome to do that too if you have it.

Thanks for reading! Until next time.
