Oscars 2017: Sorting through the Best Picture nominees

Happy Oscars 2017! The more things change the more they stay the same in Hollywood — there was plenty of crud released in 2016, but there were also plenty of award-worthy performances and movies released. I prefer to talk about the good, so below is a small recap of each movie nominated for Best Picture. A bit of a pros and cons list so you can decide what to watch leading up to February 26.

Westworld 1×10: The Bicameral Mind

Welp, a show that promised to blur the line between fantasy and reality did not disappoint. The length the show goes to prove its own self-awareness makes it such an entertaining and interesting watch. Westworld 1×10 drives this point home in a thought-provoking way that provides answers and makes a demonstrative statement.

Westworld 1×09: The Well-Tempered Clavier

Robert Ford can be described with many adjectives. Arrogant, egotistical, and domineering and three of them. The man is also a genius, and often straight to the point when he speaks. The park co-creator dropped another truth bomb early on in Westworld 1×09.

Movie Review: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them targets fans old and new

The Harry Potter movie franchise is the best one we’ve ever seen, in my opinion. Die-hard Star Wars fans will tell you to forget about three movies within their own franchise. ‘Westworld’ recap: Episode 1×07, “Trompe L’Oeil”

While most people take Spanish as an elective language in high school, I took French. Now I hear Spanish all over, while I’m stuck watching Pepé Le Pew cartoons to get my French fix.

Movie Review: Even film buffs can enjoy ‘Doctor Strange’

The Marvel universe can be polarizing. Fans who are in it are in it, but those who aren’t can take or leave the franchise. Comic book fans obviously get their fix every time out, action fans are entertained for the most part, and comedy fans will get plenty of laughs. The straight movie critic, however, could understandably have a tough time with heroes saving the world once a year using hi-tech suits and hammers and shields and magical powers. They’ve never really had a Marvel movie to get behind. Until now.
